For the second edition of Meet a Londoner, we are going to North London to meet my friend Emily. She has been living in London for the past 3 years. She has spent 2 years in Angel Islington East London. She is going to share with us what is her life in the area between Islington and Clerkenwell.
What is your neighbourhood and why did you choose to live there?
I live in Angel Islington- chosen because it was close to a lot of things I value – my friends, good restaurants, bars and cafes, the canal, the office and the city- so I have it all within about 20 mins by foot.
Describe your perfect day/weekend in Angel-Islington?
Gail’s Bakery in Exmouth Market for breakfast – if you’re really hungry get one of their tasty breakfast meals, otherwise pastries and cafés will do it. Go for a walk on Regents Canal and have a coffee at the Pumphouse Café and once you need another food break, stop at the Narrow Boat Pub for lunch on the canal. And catch a show at Sadler’s Wells or some music at the LSO Barbican.
Also check out the Angel area Camden Passage – a back alley way of vintage and used articles (books, clothing, jewelry, household items etc.) – stop at the CoffeeWorks Project if you’re dying for another great coffee location. For food, there’s the Breakfast Club - depending on the time you get there you may have a bit of a wait, and also the super delicious and cute Austrian café, Kipferl. Further up Upper St you can find some really interesting interior design & furniture stores, as well as another delicious food stop – Ottolenghi. Le Camden Passage à Angel est également quelque chose à ne pas manquer. C’est une petite allée cachée avec des boutiques vintages. Arrêtez vous au CoffeeWorks Project si vous avez envie d’un autre très bon café.
