Il est vrai que le débat du meilleur burger peut durer des heures.
A Londres, en même temps, il y en a pour tous les gouts!

Mais concernant celui là, les gens sont assez unanimes.

Ok, the debate of the best burger can go on forever.
And in London there is a burger for everyone.
But regarding this one, people is generally unanimous.

Le mot  "hamburger" est originaire de la ville d'Hamburg où beaucoup de personnes ont emigré aux Etats-Unis. Hamburger décrit en Allemand quelquechose ou quelqu'un venant de Hamburg. Le premier restaurant a affiché un hamburger à son menu fut à NYC en 1826.

The term "hamburger" originally derives from Hamburg from where many people emigrated to the US. Hamburger can be a descriptive noun in German, referring to someone or something for Hamburg. The first restaurant which served a hamburger was in NYC in 1826.

Byron est présent un peu partout dans Londres.
Sa carte est un peu légère quant au choix mais vous n'allez pas être déçu.
Les burgers sont à la bonne taille, le steak est bien cuit, le pain super bon... bref ce burger est top. Les accompagnement aussi sont pas mal du tout allant des frites classiques aux fameux macaronis au fromage.

Byron is everywhere in London.
Its menu is a bit skimpy but you are not going to be disappointed.
Burgers have good size, the steak is well cooked and the bread is very good... In short, this burger is top. Regarding sides, they are very nice as well going from the classic french fries to the famous macaroni cheese.

La déco est plutôt simple et très agréable. Une bonne adresse pour une sortie entre potes.

The decoration is simple and very pleasant. A very nice address for a friends evening.

Ah... et puis il supporte Movember aussi.

Movember est la combinaison de Mo, diminutif de moustache, and November.

Ce mouvement a commencé en Australie en 1999 et regroupe aujourd'hui plus de 1.1 millions de Mo Bros et Mo Sistas à travers le monde. 

Le but est d'arriver, le 1er Novembre, complètement rasé et de tailler/travailler/peaufiner la moustache parfaite jusqu'à la fin du mois.

Movember is the mix betweem Mo and November.

Movember was lauched in Australia in 1999 and groups together, today, more than 1,1 million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas worldwide.

The aim is to be, on the 1st of November, completely shaven and for the rest of the month grow/work on the perfect moustache.

Cette action permet de récolter des fonds pour la lutte contre les maladies masculines et plus particulièrement, le cancer de la prostate. De nombreux restaurants/marques se rallient à cette cause qui est un grand évènement en Angleterre.
En 2010, plus de 112,000 personnes ont participé au Royaume-Uni et 10,3 millions de livres ont été récoltées.

This event facilitates funds raising for the men's heath specially prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

Multiple restaurants and brands are joining this charity event which is an important one in the UK.

In 2010, over 112,000 UK people got on board and raised £10.3 million.

Hampstead

Une petite bouffée d'air pur alors que l'automne (et le froid) arrivent à Londres.

Je vais vous présenter aujourd'hui le luxueux Hampstead.

A breath of fresh air while Autumn (and cold!) are coming to London.
Let me introduce the luxurious, Hampstead.

Le nom Hampstead vient des mots anglais Ham et Stede, et est apparenté au mot actuel "Homestead"qui signifie "Domaine".
Le quartier est connu pour ses différentes associations (politique, artistique, musicale & litteraire) et pour son très grand parc, Hampstead Heath.

The name Hampstead comes from the Anglo-Saxon words Ham and Stede, which means, and is a cognate of, the Modern English "homestead".
The area is known for its multiple associations (liberal, artistic, musical & literary) and for its large park, Hampstead Heath.

Cet havre de paix s'étend sur 320 hectares.
Il est le plus ancien grand parc de Londres et renferme une célèbre colline, Parliament Hill, offrant une vue imprenable sur Londres.
On peut également y trouver trois bassins destinés à la nage. Ils étaient autrefois utilisés comme réservoirs d'eau potable puisqu'au 18e siècle, Hampstead était connu pour les bienfaits de son eau.
De nombreuses activités, comme des concerts ou des fêtes foraines, ont lieu dans ce parc .

This peaceful haven stretches over 320 acres.
This is the oldest big park in London which is home to the famous hill, Parliament Hill, giving a beautiful view of the London skyline.
There are also three ornamental lakes which, in the past, were intended for drinking water, as in the 18th century, Hampstead was well-known for its therapeutic waters.
Multiple activities take place in this park such as concerts or funfairs.

Le quartier en lui même vaut également le détour. 

Je vous conseille d'aller vous perdre dans les rues et découvrir les bons pubs traditionnels et la beauté des luxueuses résidences.

The area itself is very nice.

I advise losing yourself in the area and discovering good old pubs and luxurious houses.

Il se déroule sur 3 jours à Victoria Park du 15 au 17 Juillet 2011. 

Avec plus de 65 000 personnes attendues, réparties sur 3 sites différents, Lovebox est l’un des plus gros festival de Londres.

This festival is the three-day event to be held in London’s Victoria Park from the 15th to the 17th July. 

With 3 different music arenas and around 65'000 people expected, Lovebox is one of the biggest London has to offer.

Il est connu pour son mix des genres musicaux comme le confirme sa programmation - Snoog Dog, Scissor Sisters, Blondie, Beth Ditto, Metronomy… 

Lovebox s’est fait une réputation de festival multi-dimensions; les organisateurs ont d’ailleurs prévu un farmer’s market, des théâtres de rue et des street artistes tout au long du festival.

It is none to mix a wide variety of musical genres as we can notice seeing this year's line-up – Snoog Dog, Scissor Sisters, Blondie, Beth Ditto, … 

Lovebox has also developed a reputation for being an “urban-based-yet-rural-feeling, multi-dimensional festival” and organisers are also promising a farmers' market, fringe cabaret, street artists and comedy.

Pizza East!

Premier billet de 2011, j'en profite donc pour vous souhaiter à toutes et à tous une très bonne année!! (On peut le souhaiter jusqu'au 31 Janvier?! non?!).
Je vais vous présenter un restaurant italien un peu différent des autres dans l'East End :
Pizza East.

I'd like to introduce an italian restaurant little bit different then the others in the East End: Pizza East.

Situé au croisement de Bethnal Green Road et Shoreditch High Street, Pizza East est un restaurant italien qui sort un peu de l'ordinaire par son look mais également par sa cuisine et les ingrédients utilisés.

Located on the corner of Bethnal Green Road and Shoreditch High Street, Pizza East is an italian restaurant which is little bit different with its look but also with its cooking and its ingredients used.

Pour ma part, je n'ai gouté que les pizzas mais le menu est plutôt varié et les plats ont l'air très bons. Les pizzas sont plutôt originales; vous pouvez trouver des pizzas aux saucisses de canard/artichauts ou boulettes de veau par exemple. La pâte à pizza et la sauce tomate sont faites maison dans le respect de la tradition de l'établissement.
Les prix sont entre 7.5£ et 13£ pour les pizzas.
J'ai essayé la pommes de terre/pancetta/puzone/ail... Délicieuse!

I've only tried pizzas but everything looks very good and the menu is very varied. Pizzas are rather original. You can find duck sausages/artichokes pizza or veal meatball pizza. The base and tomato sauce are home-made from a house recipe.
Prices are between 7.5£ and 13£ for pizzas. 
I tried the potato/pancetta/puzone/garlic pizza... Yumme!

En ce qui concerne le cadre, le restau se trouve dans le Tea Buildng de Shoreditch et a essayé de garder une déco se rapprochant de l'esprit vieille usine avec un gros bar central. La déco est très années 70's: banquettes en cuirs, lampes d'usine et mobilier de réfectoire.

Concerning decoration, the restaurant's tried to keep an old factory spirit with a big central bar. The fitting-out is so 70's with the big leather seating, factory lamps and refectory furnitures.

Il y a un petit coin épicerie au fond du restaurant où vous pouvez prendre un verre en attendant votre table ou acheter de la nourriture italienne (fromage, viande, sauces, pâtes, ...).

There is also a deli in the back of the restaurant where you can have a drink waiting for your table or buy some italian food (cheese, meat,sauces, dry goods, ...).

Après un bon repas, vous pouvez aller vous défouler sur le dancefloor au sous-sol où un DJ mix du jeudi au samedi soir.

After a nice dinner, you can go on the basement dancefloor where a DJ is mixing from Thursday to Saturday evening.

En résumé, Pizza East est un peu le restau italien uber cool de Shoreditch où aller passer une bonne soirée entre potes!

Je profite de cet article pour vous annoncer l'arrivée d'un nouveau sujet dans ce blog. Je vais essayer de trouver pour vous (et pour moi :) ) le meilleur burger de Londres, j'ai dejà commencé ma quête mais si vous avez des bonnes adresses je suis preneuse.

To summarize, Pizza East is the uber cool italien restaurant in Shoreditch where you could have a very nice evening with your friends!

I'd to say that I'm going to create a new topic on this blog. I'd like to find for you (and for me :)), the best burger place in London, I've already started but if you have any proposition, I'll be glad to try them.
